Frequently Asked Questions

Can I just walk in or do I need to make an appointment?

Yes, walk-in’s are welcomed. For pregnancy tests, we ask that you arrive at least one hour before closing. iParent appointments are on a first come, first-serve basis but encouraged to take place with an appointment. Sonograms are done by appointment only and must go through our medical staff.

I took a home pregnancy test, should I still take one there?

It is best to have a home test verified by a clinical test. Our pregnancy tests are lab quality, similar to what you’d find in a doctor’s office.
(Note: we provide urine tests only and do not offer blood tests for pregnancy). If your test is positive, we can talk about scheduling an ultrasound to determine if the pregnancy is viable and how far along you are. After the sonogram, you will have the information you need to make an informed decision regarding your pregnancy.

How much does this all cost?

All services we offer like pregnancy tests, limited ultrasound, parenting classes, and material support, are free. Donors have provided for these services and make it so we can offer them at no cost to you.

Does your facility offer abortions?

If you are considering an abortion, the BPFC offers free and confidential pregnancy testing and ultrasounds to determine if your pregnancy is viable. Through the ultrasound we can learn if you have a viable pregnancy and how far along you are which is a necessary step in deciding the best options for your future.

Can I bring someone with me when I come?

We understand that you are feeling the need for support during this time. For your privacy we will meet with you individually at first and then invite your friend to join us when you are ready and more comfortable.

Do I need to bring anything with me to my first appointment?

Yes, please bring in your license or form of ID to your first appointment. Your privacy is very important to us and everything will be kept confidential.

I just had sex, how soon can you tell if I am pregnant?

Our tests are accurate within 7-10 days after conception. Conception generally occurs approximately 14 days after your period starts. Therefore we suggest you wait until you’ve missed your period before coming in for a test.

How long does an appointment usually last?

You should plan on spending approximately 45 to 60 minutes here with us.
